Saturday, March 12
Name: Aiea Loop
Length: 5 miles
Loop: Yes
Difficulty: Novice
Description:
Nice views, bamboo forests, and a WW2 plane crash site.
Directions:
(from town) Take H1 west (Ewa bound.)
Near Middle Street keep left on Route 78 west (exit 19B, Moanalua Rd.) to 'Aiea.
While descending Red Hill, take the exit marked Halawa Stadium.
At the end of the long off-ramp continue straight on Ulune St.
At the road end turn right on 'Aiea Heights Dr.
Pass 'Aiea High School on the left.
Climb gradually through Aiea Heights subdivision.
Reach the entrance to the Keaiwa Heiau State Rec Area.
Drive past the heiau and the camping area to the upper lot and park.
We will meet in the parking area.
If you get lost just ask one of the friendly locals for directions. Its a popular hike so anyone you ask should know the directions.

Name: Maunawili Falls (repeat from last month)
Length: 3 mile, round trip
Loop: No
Difficulty: Novice-Intermediate
Description:
Hike through a dense tropical rainforest ending in a spectacular pool fed by three waterfalls. Brave hikers can dive into the pool from 30 and 50 foot dive points (not required!) Others can take a dip in the pool. Warning: this is a great hike, but parts of the hike are a bit muddy. Come prepared.
Directions:
(from town) take the Pali Mauka (toward the mountains.)
Go through the twin tunnels.
At the first traffic light (Castle junction) continue straight on Kalaniana'ole Hwy (still Route 61)
At the third traffic light turn right on A'uloa Rd.
The road forks right away. Fork left onto Maunawili Rd.
Drive through the Mauna Wili subdivision.
The road will narrow and wind through a dense forested area.
At the end of Mauna Wili road turn right on Kelewina St.
Park on the street near the intersection. We will all meet at the intersection.
If you get lost just ask one of the friendly locals for directions to the intersection of Mauna Wili and Kelewina St.

Description:
A great hike in the same area as Aiea loop. This hike features rapids and a swimming hole.
Directions: (note - same trailhead as Aiea Loop)
